Melody Chen (she/they) is a fierce Chinese-American artist passionate about devising new work and reimagined classics. This summer she’ll be in A Chorus Line (Connie), Gypsy (Agnes/Hollywood Blonde), and Hunchback of Notre Dame (Ensemble) at the Bill Mutimer Summer Series. Recent NYU Tisch School of the Arts credits include the world premiere of Andrew Lippa’s Love Somebody Now (Jess), Mean Girls (Trang Pak u/s Gretchen), Macbeth (Macbeth), Cinderella (Asst Choreo/Swing), Feminista! (Amelia/Swing), RENT (Assoc Choreo/DC/Swing). Other NYC credits include leading the world premiere of a new play called A White Girl’s Understudy (Lyn Wong) and Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens (Lucullus). As a choreographer, she recently made her NYFW debut (Tziah Jones Fall 2025) and loves hip hop, jazz and modern fusion. She was recently a recipient of a full merit-based scholarship to the Verdon Fosse Legacy Intensive Training Program 2025.
